| Additional Features of the Fellowship | The Skull Base Neurological Surgery Fellowship is a comprehensive one-year fellowship, encompassing the spectrum of advanced skull base, complex cranial surgery, with interdisciplinary management of patients that includes clinical research involvement. Our team includes board-certified and fellowship-trained experts in neurosurgery, neuro-otology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, pathology, oncology, neuroradiology, plastic surgery and rehabilitative medicine. The program involves a team approach that allows safe access to, and removal of tumors at the base of the brain, with the goal of neurological preservation. The program goal is to provide a wide range of training experience that involves state-of-the-art technology to prepare participants in a career in minimally invasive, skull base neurological surgery in an academic and private practice setting. The clinical overview includes exposure that includes, but is not limited to schwannomas, craniopharyngiomas, temporal bone tumors, meningioma, pituitary tumors, metastatic brain tumors, vascular lesions, congenital lesions, and traumatic lesions. Furthermore, surgical experience involving aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations of the brain and spine, and cerebral bypass surgery. Fellows engage in operative experience in endoscopic and traditional open microscopic techniques, resident and medical student teaching, gamma knife, and radiosurgery, and clinical research opportunities, and scholarly activities.
