My friends, I am very pleased to announce that the ACGME has just granted approval for a new and unique skull base fellowship at LSU, and we would greatly appreciate your consideration in passing this news on to any interested senior residents or ENT-trained research fellows who might be interested.
The new LSU Neurotology/Skull Base Surgery fellowship is an ACGME accredited 2-year immersion experience in Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery that includes neurotologic posterior fossa skull base surgery as well as both open and endoscopic surgery of the anterior and middle skull base.
This unique training experience is a collaborative effort of our high-volume regional Baton Rouge and New Orleans clinical practices, including two fully equipped Hearing and Balance Centers under the direction of Moises Arriaga, MD, two Head and Neck Centers under the direction of LSU Otolaryngology Chairman Daniel Nuss, MD, the LSU Neurosurgery Department in New Orleans under the direction of chairman Frank Culicchia , MD, and the Baton Rouge NeuroMedical Center under the direction of Kelly Scrantz, MD. Candidates need to have completed an otolaryngology residency and must be board eligible.
As this program has only just been approved by the ACGME, the July 1, 2013 position is available outside of the match process; subsequent positions will be selected through the match process.
