Additional Features of the Fellowship
This intensive one-year Advanced Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Fellowship is offered by the Cleveland Clinic Head and Neck Institute and the Minimally Invasive Cranial Base & Pituitary Surgery Program of the Burkhardt Brain Tumor & Neuro-Oncology Center (Neurological Institute). Not only will there be advanced subspecialty training in the medical management of complex sinus disorders, revision sinus surgery (including endoscopic modified Lothrop procedures), dacryocystorhinostomy, orbital and optic nerve decompressions, and resection of benign and malignant sinonasal tumors, but there will also be a major emphasis on the endoscopic approaches to the skull base for intracranial. Our endoscopic skull base team consists of 2 senior rhinologists and 2 endoscopic neurosurgeons (all fellowship trained) who operate together in our state-of-the-art endoscopic OR suite using the 2 surgeon-4 hand technique. The fellow will gain extensive experience in a multi-disciplinary approach to the rhinologic and skull base surgery patient and will develop proficiency in teaching residents, conducting research, presenting at national scientific meetings and establishing an academic rhinology and endoscopic skull base practice.
