V042: MOTOR ARTERIOVENOUS MALFORMATION RESECTION WITH NAVIGATION AND ADVANCED NEUROMONITORING
Ari Kappel, MD; Sarah Blitz, MD; Sahin Hanalioglu, MD, PhD; Anil Can, MD; David Bass, MD, PhD; Nirav J Patel, MD; Brigham and Women's Hospital

Surgical resection of arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in the brain remains the most definitive, durable, and immediately effective treatment modality1, but is technically challenging. We describe techniques for microsurgical resection of an eloquent brain AVM with advanced neuroimaging, augmented reality and intraoperative neuromonitoring with continuous motor mapping. A 17-year-old-male presented with new onset seizure activity and had a Spetzler-Martin-grade 3 AVM in the left motor cortex. He underwent microsurgical resection and recovered well without residual deficits.
