V037: MINI PTERIONAL APPROACH FOR RESECTION OF CLINOIDAL MENINGIOMA WITH OPTIC NERVE SHEATH INVOLVEMENT
Devon B O'Donnell, MD; Samir Sur, MD; MedStar Georgetown University Hospital
Presented is a mini-pterional approach with extradural anterior clinoidectomy for resection of clinoidal meningioma with optic nerve sheath involvement. Techniques highlighted include drilling of the sphenoid wing, optic canal, and anterior clinoid, opening of the optic nerve sheath, and dissecting the tumor circumferentially from the optic nerve and carotid artery. Gross total resection was achieved with imaging confirmed decompression. Patient had lasting visual improvement without new neurological deficits.
