Weerawong Sangphosuk, MD; Thanit Chalermwattanachai, MD, PhD; Phramongkutklao Hospital
Non-missile penetrating skull base injuries are uncommon traumatic brain injury events in modern times. However, this type of skull base injury usually involved with critical neurovascular structures and could be life-threatening. In this video, we demonstrate endoscopic transnasal approach for removal of a fishing harpoon in a patient who was hit by the distal end of arrow accidentally. The presentation explains preoperative evaluation, imaging studies, surgical steps, postoperative care and summary of the management.
