P388: COMBINED TRANSCORTICAL ENDOSCOPIC AND OPEN APPROACH FOR RESECTION OF PEDIATRIC CRANIOPHARYNGIOMA
Casey A Jarvis, MD; Lissa C Baird, MD; Boston Children's Hospital
The combined transcortical endoscopic and open approach for resection of pediatric craniopharyngioma allows for improved outcomes by minimizing parenchymal traction during open resection. A flexible endoscope is passed through Kocher’s point into the lateral ventricle. The fogarty balloon and irrigation are used to dissect the capsule away from anatomical structures. Once the cyst is free and decompressed, a modified orbitozygomatic craniotomy allows completion of the resection from a subfrontal approach through the opticocarotid triangle.
