Annual Meeting - General Information

All scientific and social events for the 13th Annual Meeting of the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) will be held at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort, in Coronado, California (across the bay from San Diego). The Pre-Meeting Courses, the hands-on cadaver dissection Workshop and Practical Course will be held at just prior to the Annual Meeting, also at the hotel.

REGISTRATION

The enclosed registration form should be completed and mailed or faxed to the NASBS. All meeting participants MUST register for the meeting. The deadline for the early registration fee is December 15, 2001. The deadline for advance registration is February 1, 2002. After this date, all changes or additions may be made on-site at the meeting.

ACCOMPANYING PERSON REGISTRATION

Spouses or guests of registrants who do not attend the scientific sessions, may register as an Accompanying Person. The registration fee includes a ticket to the social events which include the Welcome Reception, the Wine & Cheese Reception and the Annual Banquet.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND

Cancellation and refund requests must be submitted in writing. If cancellation for the Annual Meeting is received by February 1, 2002, the registration fee will be refunded with a deduction of 10% to cover administrative expenses. After February 1, 2002, no refunds are possible. See the next page for additional information for the cancellation and refund policy pertaining to the Pre-Meeting Courses.

HOTEL RESERVATION

The Loews Coronado Bay Resort is located in Coronado, California, eight miles from Downtown San Diego and approximately 15 miles from the San Diego International Airport. This California-Mediterranean style resort offers both leisure and business travelers an exceptional level of service, a full-spectrum of guest amenities and superb cuisine. The hotel is located within the community of Coronado on Crown Isle. The resort is surrounded by water, with each offering views of the private marina, the San Diego-Coronado Bay and the San Diego skyline. Resort facilities include five lighted, bayside tennis courts, full service Fitness Center, three outdoor swimming pools, whirlpools, rentals (bicycles, roller blades, wave runners, sailboats, paddle boats, etc.) and direct access to Silver Strand State Beach on the Pacific Ocean via a private pedestrian underpass.

A block of rooms with special room rates of $215 single or double occupancy has been set aside for meeting attendees. The deadline for hotel reservation is January 15, 2002. These special rates are available to meeting attendees three days prior to and/or after the meeting in case you need to extend your stay.

AIRLINE DISCOUNTS

United Airlines is the official airline of the NASBS Annual Meeting. If you or your travel agent call United's toll-free number (1-800-521-4041) to book your reservations, you will receive a 5% discount off the lowest applicable discount fare, including First Class, or a 10% discount off mid-week coach fares, purchased 7 days in advance. An additional 5% discount will apply when tickets are purchased at least 60 days in advance of your travel date. Discounts also apply on Shuttle by United and United Express. Call United at 1-800-521-4041 and reference Meeting ID Code 557HW. Dedicated reservationists are on duty seven days a week from 7:00 am to 12:00 midnight EST.

Avis Rent A Car has been selected as the official car rental company. An Avis office is located a short distance from the hotel. Cars can be returned to any Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Ontario or Long Beach location at no additional charge. All rates include unlimited mileage. Weekend daily rates are from noon Thursday to Monday at 11:59 pm.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Plan now to attend the Welcome Reception on Friday evening, February 15. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to greet old friends and to meet new ones. On Saturday evening, February 16, attend the Wine & Cheese Reception in the Exhibit Hall. This would an opportune time to visit all the exhibits and to validate your entry form for the Exhibit Hall Prize drawings.

The Annual Banquet is scheduled for Monday evening, February 18.
